What's this all about?

We’re attending the Mongol Rally –charity this year. It’s an event organized by The Adventurists: the start line is in the UK and the finish line party is in Mongolia. We’re on our own during the rally, we can and have to do whatever needed to finish.

As it is a charity event, we’re gathering donations for two different charities: Uusi Lastensairaala and Cool Earth. At the moment, we’re also gathering sponsors for overall help in getting there.

The rules state that the rally car has to be "an old shitbox" with nothing bigger than a 1.0 liter engine. We have just that and are now (re)building it to endure the challenges of the rally.

So yes, we're actually driving a 20-year-old Suzuki Swift from Finland to the UK and from there to Mongolia. How we'll get back, that we don't know yet.

Olemme osallistumassa The Adventurists:ien Mongol Rally-tapahtumaan tänä kesänä. Kyseessä on järjestetty hyväntekeväisyystapahtuma: lähtö Englannista, maali Mongoliassa, välissä saa, ja pitää, tehdä mitä lystää päästäkseen perille. Jokainen joukkue siis kerää kahteen hyväntekeväisyyskohteeseen rahaa niin paljon kuin kykenee. Homma on täysin omakustanteista osallistumismaksusta lähtien, joten aktiivinen sponsorihaku on käynnissä.

Säännöissä lukee, että auton on oltava ”old shitbox” ja enintään 1.0 litraisella moottorilla varustettu. Meillä on juurikin tämmöinen auto nyt hommattuna, se laitetaan rallikuntoon tässä kevään aikana, jonka jälkeen päästään esittelemään luomustamme sponsorien luona.

Eli kyllä, me siis ihan oikeasti ollaan ajamassa Suzuki Swiftilla Suomesta Englantiin ja sieltä Mongoliaan. Kotimatkasta ei vielä tietoa, kai me lennetään?
